What Is GMCH Chandigarh Recruitment 2026?

GMCH Chandigarh Recruitment 2026 refers to the latest public appointment notification issued by Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32-B, Chandigarh — one of India’s most prestigious government medical institutions — inviting applications from Indian Nationals to fill 242 vacant medical posts on a tenure basis across its various departments.
Established under the Union Territory of Chandigarh Administration, GMCH-32 is a leading tertiary care teaching hospital with departments spanning every major medical and surgical specialty. The 2026 recruitment drive is one of the largest batch notifications issued by GMCH this year, covering posts from Junior Resident (MBBS/BDS) to Senior Resident (MD/MS/DNB), Medical Officers, Demonstrators, Emergency Medical Officers, and Casualty Medical Officers.
The tenure-based nature means posts are contractual (1–3 years depending on the category), with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance. Candidates already holding 3-year Senior Residency tenure are not eligible for the Senior Resident post — a critical eligibility rule that often causes last-minute disqualifications.
Who Should Apply for GMCH Chandigarh Recruitment 2026?
- 🩺 MBBS graduates who have completed or are about to complete their one-year rotary internship by 31 December 2026 — ideal for the Junior Resident post.
- 🦷 BDS graduates eligible for the Junior Resident (BDS) post, with internship completion by 31/12/2026.
- 👨⚕️ Postgraduate doctors (MD/MS/DNB/D.M./M.Ch.) seeking structured residency experience in a top government hospital — perfect fit for Senior Resident vacancies.
- 🏥 Medical professionals with MBBS looking for Medical Officer, Demonstrator, Emergency Medical Officer, or Lady Medical Officer roles with Rs.56,100/month starting pay.
- 🔬 Resident Anaesthetists and Pathologists with relevant PG degrees looking for tenure positions in Chandigarh.
- 📋 CMO (General Medicine & General Surgery) aspirants with postgraduate qualifications wanting casualty service experience.
- 🎓 Candidates with M.Sc. (Medical) from a recognized Medical Institute — eligible for Demonstrator posts where medical candidates are unavailable.
- 🏛️ Government servants seeking NOC-based transfers to a premier UT hospital with better pay scale and facilities.

| Post Category | Minimum Pay (Basic) | Pay Level | NPA / Additional | Approx. Monthly CTC |
