The backlog vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities represent unfilled posts carried forward from earlier recruitment cycles. This is the third attempt to fill these PwBD posts, so if suitable candidates from the originally earmarked disability category are unavailable, CPCL will consider candidates from other identified disability categories against the same reserved posts.

CPCL has also identified specific posts open to women candidates. Due to hazardous refinery operations and shift-based work requirements, women are presently not considered for Production (CPCL01) vacancies. However, women candidates are welcome to apply for Mechanical (CPCL02), Electrical (CPCL03) and Instrumentation (CPCL04) posts, subject to meeting all other eligibility conditions.

Before applying for CPCL Recruitment 2026, candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria as on 01.07.2026:

  • Nationality: Indian Citizen
  • Important: Candidates with higher qualifications like B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA are NOT eligible for these posts

All educational qualifications must be from a University, Institution, or Board recognized by the Government of India or approved by Government Regulatory Bodies. Candidates who pursued their diploma through a recognized lateral entry scheme, such as Class-XII (Science) or ITI candidates admitted into the second year of a Diploma Course, are also eligible, provided they meet the prescribed percentage of marks based on the aggregate of 4 semesters.

Work experience must be relevant post-qualification experience gained in a Large Industrial Establishment, meaning a unit whose investment in plant and machinery exceeds Rs. 10 crores and which has been in continuous operation. Apprenticeship training completed under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, is also considered valid work experience for this recruitment.

Candidates should note that no claim of an equivalent qualification will be entertained if it is not explicitly listed above. Suppression of information regarding possession of, or pursuit of, higher qualifications will render a candidate ineligible at any stage of the selection process, and may lead to termination even after joining CPCL.

Selection Process for CPCL Recruitment 2026

The updated selection process for CPCL Recruitment 2026 consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) — 120 marks, General Aptitude (50 questions) + Discipline Knowledge (70 questions), 2-hour duration, 1/4 negative marking
  2. Minimum 40% qualifying marks required in CBT (35% for SC/ST/PwBD after 5% relaxation)
  3. Shortlisting for Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT) in 1:3 ratio
  4. Document Verification of certificates and testimonials
  5. Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT) — qualifying in nature
  6. Final Merit List based on CBT marks, subject to being medically fit

The Computer Based Test is tentatively scheduled for September/October 2026 at Chennai only. Admit cards will be issued about ten days before the CBT.

PwBD candidates and Ex-Servicemen who qualify in the SPPT will be considered against reserved vacancies irrespective of their rank in the overall merit list, following the horizontal reservation policy. SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates who availed age or qualification relaxation will similarly be adjusted against reserved vacancies within their category merit order. In case two candidates score identical marks in the CBT for the last position on the shortlist or merit list, the candidate with the earlier date of birth will be given preference.

Selection is entirely provisional until final document verification and medical fitness clearance. Candidates should carefully review the CPCL Pre-Employment Medical Examination Guidelines available on the official website before applying, since final appointment depends on being declared medically fit as per CPCL’s prescribed standards.
