NEET stands for “National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.” It is a common entrance examination conducted in India for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical and dental courses (MBBS/BDS) or postgraduate courses (MD/MS) in government or private medical colleges in the country.
The NEET exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It replaced several individual state-level and national-level medical entrance exams to establish a standardized and uniform entrance process for medical education.
NEET is a highly competitive exam, and it assesses students’ knowledge in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The exam follows a multiple-choice question format, and candidates are required to select the correct answer from the given options.
The NEET score is used by various medical colleges across India to determine the eligibility and merit of students for admission. It is essential to qualify for NEET to secure a seat in undergraduate or postgraduate medical programs in India, with admission based on the candidate’s rank and the availability of seats in different colleges.
